Families

Natural family, chosen family, and allies of LGBTQI individuals are also invited to Living Out Loud. Our counseling services and support groups will benefit families, friends, and allies who want to better understand the LGBTQI community, who are concerned for a loved one, whose partner/spouse is going through gender confirmation (sometimes known as “transitioning”), or who just feel comfortable here.

Child and Adolescent Wellness

Our team will work with you to meet your needs and improve the overall quality of your child’s life. Your child’s wellness depends on lots of people working together as a team (family, friends, school...). We first will want to know what your specific needs and concerns are. Next, we will work with you to create a plan so your child’s developmental needs are addressed. Then, we create a team based on the goals you identified and the needs of the child. We can coordinate service with your school, pediatrician, etc… so your child’s holistic needs are addressed.

For some parents, their child needs advocacy in the school. For others, they need to find the right pediatric provider for gender confirmation services. Our clinical team can work with you for service referrals, coordinating care within and outside of Living Out Loud, and linking you to a therapist in Living Out Loud. Therapy services are tailored to meet the developmental needs of your child. Children and youth respond to play therapy, expressive arts therapists, and action-oriented therapies.

Parenting LGBTQIA Children

As a parent, you may have lots of questions about your child. Some of your questions might not be answered by the internet, school, or your child. We are here to work with you on how to best support your child’s development. Being an LGBTQIA child or adolescent can be stressful, and as a parent, you might want to know what to expect, what to do, and how to help your family. Let us know how we can support you.

Being an LGBTQIA Parent

We think that being a member of the LGBTQIA community is something to celebrate. We also think the community finds resilience in the face of oppression. Being an LGBTQIA parent, you might want additional support to stay resilient, healthy and vibrant.

Family and Relationship Services

Families go through challenges and stresses. They survive crises, hardships, and changes. However you define your family, we are here to support your health, resilience, and goals. Our therapists can provide couples and family counseling that will meet your needs.
